This application is for an internship position with the Austin Police Department. Please only apply if you meet the minimum qualifications listed for this position and can commit to the scheduling requirement.    Have you ever considered a career in law enforcement? This internship opportunity might be for you!   We're currently accepting applications for internship positions for the Falll 2020 school semester. Students accepted into our internship program will work alongside a number of units at the Austin Police Department over a 12-week period, including our District Representatives, Crime Scene Unit, Communications team, and Homicide Unit, among others. Interns must commit to 10 hours per week and will be compensated $11.00 per hour in addition to three college credit hours. In order to receive college credit, interns must be enrolled in a college or university that aligns with a field placement/internship course and must complete the full 12-week program. The Fall 2020 internship program will take place from September 6 - November 21. Graduates of the internship program will be placed at the top of the list for our next Regular Academy.    APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:   Before applying for this position you must complete a 500-word essay answering the following questions: - Why should you be selected as an intern for the Austin Police Department? - What do you hope to gain from this internship experience? - Please share your career goals (post college) as they relate to pursuing an occupation in law enforcement with the Austin Police Department.
